My husband forgot them at the store. They look easy...anyone know how to make them?Antone know a recipe for making croutons for salad?
This is a basic and easy recipe:
Ingredients
3 potato hamburger buns or hot dog buns (or other bread)
3-6 tablespoons olive oil or canola oil
1/2 tablespoon Lawry's Seasoned Salt
Directions
1Cut buns into bite size pieces.
2You can also use bread, which can be fresh or 'day-old'.
3Place pieces in a bowl and drizzle oil over as you stir to coat.
4Feel free to use more or less oil than is called for.
5The more oil you use, the more melt-in-your-mouth they will be.
6Sprinkle with seasoning salt.
7You can also use garlic powder, oregano, Italian seasoning or any combination of them.
8Bake at 350掳F for about 15 minutes, stirring once.Antone know a recipe for making croutons for salad?
I make them all the time because my husband only likes pumpernickle ones and we can't find them.
I buy the small squares of pumpernickle at the deli - you can do this with any bread.
Preheat oven to 400
I use a pastry brush and baste one side with olive oil (olivio spray would be easier) and I seaon with salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder and parmesean cheese.
I put in the oven and turn down to 250 - bread dries out in about 15 min and I pull it out and do the same thing to the other side - pop back in the oven until dry and I cut it up.
I don't get perfect squares but he loves it.
I would assume you could coat with olive oil - both sides (lightly), cut in cubes and toss in a ziplock bag of the above mentioned spices and then put in the oven.
hope this helps:
INGREDIENTS
4 tablespoons butter
1 clove garlic, minced
3 (3/4 inch thick) slices French bread, cut into cubes
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a large saute pan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in garlic; cook and stir for 1 minute. Add bread cubes, and toss to coat. Spread on a baking sheet.
Bake for 15 minutes, or until crisp and dry. Check frequently to prevent burning. Cool.
I cut up some day old French bread, put them in a single layer on a cookie sheet, hose them down with garlic spray, and put them in a 250F oven for about 45 minutes. Every 15 minutes I stir them and spray them lightly again. Let cool and store in a ziplock.
I do what Ken does but I use olive oil instead of butter and also a bit of salt and pepper.
And it's not to be healthy -- I'm a total butter freak. But I first had these with olive oil and they were so good I never tried with butter.
I cut up several slices of bread into cubes. I brush them with melted butter, granulated garlic and some parmesan cheese. bake them in the oven on 375 degrees, until crispy and brown. Cool and serve!
