The FBI should be investigating the politicans involved as well. I live in Oregon and my boyfriend lives hundreds of miles away in California. He is planning to move up here in a year. We both agreed to be faithful to one another. Who is going to be scrutinising all the teachers lives in order to ';catch'; them in their non desired behaviour? Will be up to the students who get failing grades or the ones who get passing grades. This is just asinine. An adult who works with children know how to behave, they don't need a list of rules that have do's and don'ts.What do you make of the idea about making teachers role models with penalties and bonuses?
My own view is that whilst teachers need to be discreet in their private lives, their job is to educate. They are not police or social workers or parents of their pupils.
The role models that children follow are pop stars, celebs and fashion models. Perhaps they should be subjected to these proposals and leave teachers to teach.
A novel idea might be to actually expect the parents to provide some sort of example!
I believe teacher are role models and should act as such. My son was a teacher and coach, but he is a Jr. High Principal now and his wife is a Jr. High Counselor. They have 2 children and are excellent role models. Teachers shouldn't be bad role models away from school, if they get drunk, have sex with students and such, they should loose their jobs and never teach again. Teachers have a higher standard to live up to. That is the way it should be.
I think teachers have enough to do with childminding the little darlings. Teaching them morals, manners, life skills, hygiene etc as the parents cannot be bothered. At least let the poor bl**dy teachers live their own lives without Big Brother bugging their every move in their leisure time.
My husband, my son, my daughter in law, two brothers in law, three sisters in law are teachers, I used to a teacher and my brother is a headmaster.
All adults should be role models.
Is it such a bad thing to expect those entrusted with our children's formal education to be responsible, law -abiding citizens and promote that as a good way to conduct yourself.
Enoying yourself doesn't have to involve getting bladdered and lairy.
